How to care for yourself after filler
Avoid forceful massage, pressure, or touching of the treated area
In the early period, avoid pressing, massaging, kneading, or frequently touching the injected area, as well as activities that put pressure on it, to prevent irritation or disturbance of the newly treated area.
Keep heat away from the treated area
In the early period after treatment, avoid activities that expose the face or injected area to high heat, such as saunas, steam rooms, or hot compresses, because heat may increase swelling and irritation.
Avoid makeup on the injected area for at least 24 hours
Avoid applying cosmetics to areas with needle marks during the first 24 hours, and avoid forcefully rubbing, wiping, or touching the skin to help reduce irritation in the newly injected area.
Avoid alcohol and smoking in the early period
Avoid alcohol and smoking for around 1–2 weeks as directed by your doctor, to help reduce factors that may trigger swelling, bruising, or interfere with skin recovery.
Avoid foods and drinks that can trigger swelling
During roughly the first 1–2 weeks, you may be advised to avoid strongly flavored foods, very hot food or drinks, and fermented or pickled foods, especially if you are prone to swelling or irritation.
Needle marks, redness, swelling, or bruising may occur at first
After injection, needle marks, redness, swelling, tightness, or bruising may occur in the treated area. These generally decrease gradually with each person’s recovery, and it may take around 7–14 days for the area to settle further.
Watch for abnormal symptoms after treatment
If you experience unusually severe pain, changes in skin color, abnormal paleness or darkening, rapidly increasing swelling, or symptoms that feel different from typical post-injection symptoms, contact the clinic or your treating doctor immediately.
